The Interstate System turns 50

I cannot think of a public works project that has impacted the American culture more than the Interstates. I don't even want to know how many hours I personally have logged behind the wheel cruising up and down the East Coast on the likes of I-95, I-81, I-88, I-84, I-64, and the dreaded I-495 (otherwise known as The Beltway).
